Channel Islands Twin Fin - Review

This summer I've decided I'm going to try and review as many boards as I can from our selection here at Sunburnt Mess. First up is the Channel Islands Twin fin.

To give you some background Im 68-70Kgs, 5'7 tall and would say I'm an advanced Intermediate surfer.

The conditions that I rode this board in were somewhat clean, South swell @ Bondi, 2-3ft left rip bowl type waves running through to a shore break.

The board was 5'7 x 19 1/4 x 2 3/8 - 27.7L - This is a little more volume than what i would ride in my standard board but I definitely wouldn't go any smaller as the board had plenty of flow and caught waves easily.

The board was setup with a set of FUTURES T1 twins with no trailer/stabilizer. I found the board extremely fast over flat sections, Coming off the bottom the board had plenty of drive and would generate speed easily. The slight Vee through the tail meant it transitioned well on rail and through turns. Having no stabiliser meant that It was a little looser through the last part of a turn however this was a not a bad thing once I was on a bigger wall or hitting a closeout section as it would almost correct itself without me having to think about it.

The rails on the CI twin are a little lower than some other twinnies that are available but this meant that I didn't feel that extra volume that was allowing me to catch waves and flow through turns.

All in all this is a great little twin fin shape and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a performance style twin fin coming into summer.
